Grand Duke Michael Michaïlovitch, uncle to Tzar Nicholas II, lived in this sumptuous mansion on the slopes of California Hill. The villa's hosts welcomed the most illustrious winter visitors - King Edward VII, the King of Sweden, the Princes of Nassau. Between 1895 and 1914 Grand Duke Michael and his extremely attractive wife spent every winter season at the Villa Kazbeck, named for one of the highest Caucasian peaks. Party followed party. Privat residence, not open to visitors.
