Wat Ban Krang (วัดบ้านกร่าง)
This temple is famed for its sacred votive tablets, widely known as Khun Paen. It is believed that this temple was built after a historic war between King Naresuan and Burmese troops. The fish sanctuary in the river in front of the temple provides a relaxing place for locals and visitors to wile away their time. At the temple entrance, old-fashioned wooden shophouses offering snacks reflect the easy-going lifestyle of the local residents.
Wat Bang Krang - The Origin Phra Khun Paen Amulet In SuphanBuri - Thailand.
Wat Bang Krang, temple of the oldest Phra Khun Paen amulets in Thailand located at Tambon Bankrang, Amphoe Si Prachan, SuphanBuri province. This temple is just next the west bank of the Tha Chin river and the old monastery was built in the Ayutthaya era and is over 450 years old. The main attraction is the clay baked of Phra Khun Paen amulet and famous among the collecters around the world. Assumed that is was created by King Naresuan the great and victory against King of Burma in year BE2135. The Phra Khun Paen amulets were kept inside the Chedi for worship by Somdet Pra Ponnarat. There were 84000 pcs with 27 kinds of Single Khun Paen and 14 kinds of Twin Khun Paen. The Twin Khun Paen is very important because is created for memory of King Naresuan the Great and King Phra Ekatosarot.
The consecrated old Phra Buddha statues inside the old monastery Vihara of Wat Bang Krang. This monastery is built since ancient Ayutthaya era.
The board history of King Chulalongkorn visited to SuphanBuri in year 1908. King Chulalongkorn also wrote to Pagoda of Wat Bang Krang and name of the Tambon as same as name of temple.
Bottom board history of Sunthorn Phu the Great Poet of Ratanakasin visited to SuphanBuri. He wrote Poet of Wat Bang Krang : "Picturesquely carved into the ground, The crescent river is occupied by Crocodiles and Fish. Here the silence of BangKrang flourishes. Gradually deriving a feeling of loneliness, I shift myself away.
The amulet counter and famous Phra Khun Paen BE2492 and BE2512.
The temple is located at Mu 2 Tambon Ban Krang, Amphoe Si Prachan, Suphan Buri, on the bank of Tha Chin River, at Km 14-15 of Highway 3038. It is open daily from 6.00 am-5.00 pm.
