Description
Lake Robertville is an artificial lake near the city of Malmedy in Belgium in Europe. The water volume is 8,000,000 m³ and the area is 0,62 km². The lake is located in the High Fens Park. The dam on the river Warche was built in 1928.
Lake Robertville is situated in the municipality of Waimes. It is named after the village of Robertville.
In the town of Waimes, in the natural park Hautes Fagnes-Eifel. At a height of 54.50 m, the dam wall has a thickness varying from 58 m at the base to 4 m at the top. Its crest length is 182 m and a volume of concrete and masonry 57 000 m3.
This dam type (arch gravity), which dominates the Warche 55 meters, was created in 1928 to provide the town of Malmedy with drinking water and the power plant Bévercé by a 5.4km pipeline.
Activities
Fishing, boating, miniature golf, tennis, and swimming.
In February 2010, the lake was drained to allow the placement of a protective film on the retention and repair and maintenance of submerged valves. The show was quite impressive given the depth of the lake. Filling after work began in September of the same year.
